January 30, Dennis Tritten & Arlyn Lawrence: Parenting for the Launch, Raising Teens to Succeed in the Real World – Emotional Pro

January 29th, 2014

Arlyn Lawrence and Dennis Tritten have been focused on helping Teens “graduate” from home and move into real life, ever since they co-authored What I Wish I Knew at 18: Life Lessons for the Road Ahead, published in 2011. Earlier this month, Jim Sniechowski and Judith Sherven talked with me about What Really Killed Whitney Houston, emphasizing how ill-prepared she was for adult living as the underpinning for her early demise.
Dennis and Arlyn now talk with us about how to prepare teens for where they are going, the relationships they may have along the way, and how to make the transition from being a “passenger” to a “driver” in their own life. Parenting for the LaunchThey are part of a new interest in making sure we impart Life Skills to our children, so they can meet life prepared to handle its most mundane aspects with skill and mastery. If you don’t have teens, this discussion may enlighten you about struggles you experienced when you left your own family of origin. As ever, we welcome your questions and concerns–chat or call during the show.
