Robin Fink, a senior at Reed College in Portland, Oregon, has looked forward to summer vacation for the past three years, when she spent Summer in Winter,flying to work with the indigenous people of the high Andes. Robin Fink turned 21 in the high Andes this summer. She celebrated by painting houses all day. What motivates young people to serve others, dedicate their “summer vacation” to winter work in a far off land, and laboriously create community gardens on the steep mountainside, and work with those in medical need?
