Segment 1: Challenges to Finding Real Love for Gay Men

Our broadcast is on National Coming Out Day. Joe Kort says "coming out" is important in finding real love in gay male intimate relationships because it puts men out into the world where they can find one another; and it also puts them into integrity and authenticity. Learn about "internalized homophobia," what gay men miss about women and what are some of the real positives about gay male relationships.

Segment 2: Emotional Issues and IMAGO Work for Gay Men
We move from talking about why Imago (a gender-neutral relationship therapy developed by Dr. Harville Hendrix)works well for helping gay men develop strong intimate relationships, to the challenges of being "close," an explanation of how the false self interferes with intimacy, what gay men fear, and what families and friends can do to help, stay close and support their gay men and strengthen real love.

Segment 3: Archetypes Help Us Step Out of Stereotypes

Kort says stereotypes are negative, and archetypes are positive, showing us what is possible. Claiming that "we're punished for being a different kind of man," Kort explains how working with the archetypes of the King, Lover, Warrior and Magician show gay men where they are strong and where they need work in order to build sturdy committed relationships full of real love. Listen as he talks about how to move toward balance in these quadrants of life.
